Juan Foyth was one of the hottest prospects in Argentina and was reportedly on the radar of a host of Europe's top clubs.

Barcelona were said to have been tracking the 19-year-old, however, he has opted to make the move to Tottenham.

The defender has put pen to paper on a five-year deal, keeping him with the London club until June 2022.

Foyth broke into Estudiantes’ first team last season and is a mainstay of Argentina’s Under-20 squad.

“I really like this club and have followed them since I was a boy,” Foyth said.

“I really like the league and I’m going to make the most of the opportunity.

“It’s a club that believes in young player and I’m really pleased to be here.

“I know the club has a great history and is one of the biggest in England and I’m very happy to be here - it’s a dream for me.”

And Foyth admitted he is excited to begin working at Spurs, claiming he was attracted by the project at the club.

“There’s lots of young players in the squad and I think there’s a wonderful project here,” he added.

“I believe my style of play is about bringing the ball out and keeping it on the floor.

“I like individual duels and I’m fast so I think that’s what I can bring to the team.”
