Deadline Day

Sanchez to Man City was a done deal - Adam

21:25: Stoke midfielder Charlie Adam claims he heard Alexis Sanchez’s proposed move to Manchester City from Arsenal was done THREE WEEKS ago.

Sanchez was desperate to leave Arsenal but after the deal falling through, he says he must do his talking on the pitch.

“I heard three weeks ago that the deal was done, completed,” Adam said on BBC Radio 5 Live.

“Agreed, finances, everything was agreed. All they had to agree was the fee between Arsenal and Man City. I heard that three weeks ago.

“He has a week now to get his head around it before he gets back to Arsenal after the internationals. There’s nothing else he can do.”

Sanchez thought he was joining City

18:20 Alexis Sanchez thought he was leaving to join Manchester City, according to Guillem Balague.

Balague tweeted: “As it stands, Arsenal pull out of Lemar negotiations. So Alexis, much to his pain, stays. Will there be more twists? #DeadlineDay

“1. What a situation. Alexis thought he was leaving as City/AFC reached a deal (£55+5). It will be very hard to bring him round.

“2. At this stage City not willing to add a £ to the deal agreed with AFC. AFC not told them yet they not selling Alexis. Would you keep him?”

Arsenal must sell Alexis - Nicholas

17:40: Arsenal must sell Alexis Sanchez before the transfer window shuts tonight, according to Sky Sports pundit and former Arsenal striker Charlie Nicholas.

Sanchez has been linked with a move to Manchester City throughout the summer, with the Chile star’s contract up at the end of the season.

Reports earlier today claimed Arsenal had accepted a £60million offer from City for Sanchez.

However, now it is claimed a deal will not happen as the Gunners do not have enough time to buy a replacement, which was expected to be Monaco’s Thomas Lemar.

Speaking before this news, Nicholas pleaded with his former side to let Sanchez leave as he clearly no longer wants to be at the club.

“When it started yesterday, I think Arsenal wanted a player in exchange,” Nicholas said on Sky Sports.

“I don’t think Man City are interested in selling, they just want straight cash. Arsenal have no choice now. They’ve got themselves in a corner, they’re trapped against the ropes and they can’t get off the ropes.

“You have to sell Sanchez, he does’t want to be there. It’s good money with 12 months left on the contract. He’s their best player but Arsenal have created their own mess here. We’re against the ropes and we can’t get off.”

Sanchez STAYS, Lemar deal OFF

17:15: This is getting ridiculous now.

Arsenal are sensationally set to retain Alexis Sanchez after failing to agree a fee with Monaco for Thomas Lemar.

Manchester City have been trying all day to get a deal for Sanchez over the line.

Arsenal have even been preparing for his departure by attempting to land Monaco winger Thomas Lemar.

But the Guardian say a move from the Emirates to the Etihad is now OFF for Sanchez.

In a stunning turn of events, it is said that Arsenal will now retain the Chile international after talks over a move for Lemar broke down.

Spanish football expert Guillem Balague added: “As it stands, Arsenal pull out of Lemar negotiations. So Alexis, much to his pain, stays.”

Alexis Sanchez in Man City shirt? Nope…

15:55: Alexis Sanchez has been pictured in a Manchester City shirt… or has he?

Manchester City want to sign Sanchez ahead of tonight’s 11pm transfer deadline.

The Chile international today ‘liked’ a tweet of a fan singing him a song convincing him to stay at Arsenal.

But Sanchez could be on his way to Manchester City with pictures doing the rounds on Twitter on him in their light blue kit.

Sanchez is currently with Chile ahead of his national side's 2018 World Cup qualifying games against Paraguay and Bolivia.

The blurry picture appears to show Sanchez wearing this season’s Manchester City kit in front of a green screen.

However, eagle-eyed fans have spotted a tattoo on his left arm, something Sanchez does not have.

The inking is very similar to that of current City star Leroy Sane, leading fans to suggest that the original image has been doctored.

City submit second Sanchez bid, Arsenal want Lemar

14:45: There’s a major deal in the pipeline, according to Sky Sports journalist Guillem Balague.

Balague claims Manchester City have made a second offer of £55million plus a further £5m in performance-related add-ons.

It’s believed that Arsenal have asked for more time locate a replacement in the shape of Monaco superstar Thomas Lemar.

Balague tweeted: “Alexis close to sign for City for £55m + £5m. Arsenal asked for few hours to sign Thomas Lemar, which they confident they are going to do.”

Draxler back on radar!

11:10: Telegraph journalist Matt Law has provided some exciting updates for Arsenal fans.

Law claims that Arsene Wenger has revived his interest in Julian Draxler, who may be allowed to leave Paris Saint-Germain today.

With Manchester City still weighing-up a second approach for Sanchez, it’s believed Wenger has selected Draxler as his replacement.

The arrivals of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe have left PSG needing to balance the books with Draxler the most likely to leave.

No bids for Sanchez

10:55: Arsenal have received no further bids for Alexis Sanchez.

Sky Sports claim nobody has bid for the Chilean superstar since Tuesday, and Arsenal will NOT accept a cash offer as they don't have enough time to replace him.

Arsenal agree Sanchez fee - Alan Brazil

10:10: Arsenal look to have agreed a fee to sell Alexis Sanchez to Manchester City, according to Alan Brazil.

Brazil reckons the fact Manchester City have sent a delegation to Chile to thrash out a deal with Sanchez, means a fee must have been settled with Arsenal.

"If what we here is true that a delegation from Manchester City have gone out there, that tells me the clubs have agreed a price,” Brazil said on talkSPORT.

“It's just personal terms now.”

Former Arsenal and England goalkeeper David Seaman agreed that looked like the case.

Seaman is hopeful Gunners boss Arsene Wenger will bring some players in before the transfer deadline shuts at 11pm tonight.

"Yeah it does look like that,” he said in response to Brazil’s claim.

Four-figure bet on Sanchez to United

09:50: This one’s certain to get the transfer window spinning.

Bookmakers Paddy Power have dramatically halved the odds on Alexis Sanchez joining Manchester United today – from 10/1 to 5/1 – after a four-figure bet in a Manchester store this morning.

United have been loosely linked with the winger all summer, and were said to be revitalising their interest in Inter’s Ivan Perisic.

But they could instead push for a dramatic swoop for Sanchez, ahead of local rivals City.

City's £70m raid

07:05: Manchester City will return to Arsenal with an offer of around £70million for Alexis Sanchez today.

They have already sent a team of legal and medical officials to South America to finalise a deal with the Chile international - who is on World Cup duty - if the Gunners give the green light for a transfer, reports the Independent.

Chile kick off conundrum

05:30: Sanchez is currently with the Chile squad as they prepare to host Paraguay in a World Cup qualifier tomorrow.

And the kick off time for that match is significant.

Sanchez will play at 11:30pm UK time - half an hour AFTER the transfer deadline.

Could he be rushed away from his warm-up at the David Arellano Stadium in order to pen a move to City? That would be drama of the highest order!

Alexis Sanchez to Man City

05:15: Manchester City appear the most likely team to buy Alexis Sanchez this summer.

City boss Pep Guardiola is a massive fan of the Chile star and is ready to buy him this summer rather than wait for the end of the season, where he will be available on a free transfer.

Sanchez has refused a £300,000-a-week offer at Arsenal and City are willing to meet his £400,000-a-week demands.

Arsenal want Raheem Sterling as part of the deal but it is not known if the England international would be keen to head to the Emirates.

Welcome

05:10: Welcome to our Alexis Sanchez transfer news live blog on deadline day. Sanchez is ready to leave Arsenal but has not handed in a formal transfer request.

The Chilean's contract expires next summer and while Arsenal say they won't sell him, they are listening to offers.

Manchester City made a bid for Sanchez earlier this week but Arsenal want cash PLUS Raheem Sterling as part of the deal.

And Manchester United are said to have used intermediaries to speak to the player's representatives.

It promises to be a busy deadline day for Arsene Wenger, who is determined to keep Sanchez. But a big-money offer could change the Frenchman's mind.
