Divock Origi has fallen out of favour at Liverpool and is yet to start a single game for the Reds this season.

The Anfield club are keen to offload the Belgium international and want him to go out on loan to get more game time.

And according to the Liverpool Echo, the 22-year-old is closing in on a season-long deal with German side Wolfsburg.

The report says the Bundesliga side are prepared to pay a substantial loan fee to bring the Belgian to the Volkswagen Arena.

Origi did not make the bench for the Reds’ 4-0 win over Arsenal last weekend and has played just nine minutes of football this term.

Wolfsburg boss Andries Jonker is reportedly willing to give the former Lille man a break in the Bundesliga this season.

The German side have seen off a number of competitors for Origi’s signature, including rivals Werder Bremen and Bayer Leverkusen.

Premier League duo Tottenham and Newcastle were also credited with showing an interest in the forward.

Speaking to German magazine Kicker this week, Wolfsburg sporting director Olaf Rebbe admitted the club are in the market for a goalscorer.

"We are looking for someone with an eye for goals,” he said.

“Our task is to find something that makes us better."

Origi has scored 21 goals in 77 appearances for Liverpool since arriving from Lille two years ago.
