ALEX OXLADE-CHAMBERLAIN is currently undergoing a Liverpool medical with an announcement on his move from Arsenal expected tomorrow well ahead of the transfer deadline.

Community Shield 2017: Oxlade-Chamberlain scores against Chelsea

Arsenal agreed to let Oxlade-Chamberlain move to Liverpool for £40million after he rejected a deal with Chelsea.

He is currently with the England squad preparing for their World Cup qualifier with Malta on Friday.

But England boss Gareth Southgate has given him permission to have a medical and Sky Sports say confirmation of the move will come on Thursday.

Former Red Jamie Carragher admitted he tried to convince Oxlade-Chamberlain to join Liverpool in the past.

“Tried to persuade Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to join Liverpool when he was a kid, obviously [Jurgen] Klopp is more persuasive,” he wrote on Twitter.

“Interested how he gets him into central midfield after Sunday!”

The move will come as a massive blow to Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, who had been desperate to keep hold of Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Oxlade-Chamberlain is on his way to Liverpool

Last week Wenger still believed Oxlade-Chamberlain could be the future of the club.

He said: “In all the conversations that I have had, I say that I want him to stay and be one of the big players of the future of this club.

“He is one of the players this team has to be built around in the future. Personally, I want him to commit to the club and be one of the carriers of the values of our team.

“I want to keep my best players. I only have one target – to keep everybody on board. I think we invested a lot of time, confidence and money on players like Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who we bought at a young age. For me, they have a responsibility for the future of this club because Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will be one of the big English players in the coming years. I, personally, am highly determined to keep him here at the club and I hope he will commit.”
