Having agreed to make the move to Anfield, Keita marked the moment by netting against Libya in a World Cup Qualifier.

In the seventh minute, the midfielder picked the ball up just over the halfway line before charging toward goal.

Turning one Libyan defender and leaving the rest in his wake, Keita rounded the goalkeeper as he calmly guided the ball into the back of the net to make it 1-0.

Liverpool supporters on Twitter were happy with what they had just witnessed and heaped praise on the player.

One wrote: “He is going to be more of a finished product next season. Can’t wait.”

Another said: “He’s going to improve our midfield no end.”

It is, however, unlikely Liverpool fans will be able to enjoy yet another singing on transfer deadline day.

The Reds were keen to secure deals for Monaco attacker Thomas Lemar and Southampton centre-back Virgil van Dijk, but it’s looking increasingly unlikely they will make the move to Anfield.

Liverpool had medical staff on standby in Paris to conduct a medical on Lemar, but the player now seems destined to stay in Monaco.

And Southampton remain adamant they will not sell Van Dijk, who has been trying to engineer a move to Anfield all summer.
