Chelsea News: Alvaro Morata pokes fun at Premier League defenders: They are in a mess

ALVARO MORATA has said Premier League defenders easily get confused, leading him to taking full advantage.

Chelsea’s Alvaro Morata scores INCREDIBLE goal in training

Morata has got off to a flying start to life in the Premier League with two goals in the opening three matches.

The 24-year-old has been a prolific goalscorer in both the Serie A and La Liga over recent seasons.

And last campaign he scored 20 goals in 43 games in all competitions for Real Madrid, despite starting just 19 matches.

Now reunited with Conte, who signed him for Juventus in 2014 but never worked together due to the Chelsea boss taking up a position with Italy, Morata wants to make his mark in England.

And the Spain international risks provoking defenders in the English top flight with his latest comments.

“I have to battle with opposing central defenders, and over here they are far stronger physically than in any other country,” Morata told Spanish newspaper El Pais.

“But it is fair to say that they are in a mess with their tactics and they offer me the chance to score goals as they get confused.

“The game here is different to what I know.

“In Spain you have time to think and keep hold of the ball, but over here, by the time you’ve got possession you’ve already taken a couple of kicks from opponents.

“In Spain when you turn with the ball you have time to look up at the keeper and see where to aim. Here you just have to shoot straight away, but this helps make the Premier League attractive to watch.”

Morata also netted for his country in their 3-0 win over Italy on Saturday and is expected to feature in Tuesday's World Cup qualifier against Liechtenstein.
