Arsene Wenger admits he nearly quit Arsenal this summer before signing a new two-year deal.

“Yes I hesitated about signing a new contract for personal reasons,” he told French TV station Telefoot.

“I have been at Arsenal for 20 years and I ask myself all the time if I should continue to run the club. And also because we struggled a lot last season.”

Elsewhere, Diego Costa is ready to begin peace talks with Chelsea after the Spaniard failed to get his move to Atletico Madrid before the transfer window shut last week.

“There will have to be a reconciliation between Diego and Chelsea,” a source told Express Sport.

“Diego will have to come back to England, because he does not want his career to end with him back in Brazil like this.”

And finally, Jurgen Klopp is unfazed about putting dejected Philippe Coutinho straight back into the Liverpool squad after the Brazilian failed to secure his dream move to Barcelona.

“We still have a really good player in the squad who can play,” Klopp said.
