REAL MADRID’s Spanish Super Cup win over Barcelona last month shows just how good a team Manchester United are.

Mourinho gives Super Cup medal to fan after Real Madrid defeat

That is the opinion of pundit and former Manchester United midfielder Ray Wilkins.

Real Madrid eased past Barcelona 5-1 on aggregate to win Spain’s season curtain raiser.

Just five days before the first leg, Real had beaten United 2-1 in the European Super Cup final.

Jose Mourinho’s side ran Real close but the Champions League winners eventually came out on top.

Wilkins says the ease of which Real went on to beat rivals Barcelona shows how good United are.

“I think Manchester United’s business was done very, very quickly, very sharply and very professionally as well,” Wilkins said on Sky Sports.

“They look now as if they’ve got a squad of players that’s going to take some beating to be perfectly honest.

“When I saw them lose to Real Madrid I thought ‘wow’ that was a beating but at times Manchester United took them to the sword as well.

“Then when I saw Real Madrid play Barcelona and they wiped the floor with Barcelona, I think it puts into perspective how good Manchester United could be this season.

“I fancy them strongly.”

United have won their opening three Premier League games of the season and sit top of the table.

Their next test is against Mark Hughes' Stoke at the Bet365 Stadium on Saturday (5.30pm).
