Liverpool news: Philippe Coutinho flies back to England after Brazil duty

PHILIPPE COUTINHO is flying back to England to join up with Liverpool after international duty with Brazil.

Coutinho is returning to Merseyside for the first time since his hopes of a transfer to Barcelona were ended.

The 25-year-old had been desperate to join the Spanish side, even submitting a transfer request in an attempt to force a move but Liverpool prevented him for leaving, rejecting three Barca bids.

The midfield playmaker is understood to be unhappy and frustrated with Liverpool’s stance.

But he was happy to smile for a picture with his Brazil team-mates as they flew back to England.

Liverpool will see Philippe Coutinho give everything for the club - that is the sort of player he is

Brazil drew 1-1 with Colombia in Barranquilla with Willian and Radamel Falcao getting on the scoresheet.

Liverpool and City agreed to fund a private jet to bring their players back from South America ahead of their meeting in the Premier League this weekend.

And Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho posted a picture of himself with Coutinho, Roberto Firmino, Willian, Ederson and Gabriel Jesus.

Former Barca star Ronaldinho believes Coutinho will “give everything” for Liverpool despite his disappointment.

He told The Mirror: “This season they will see him give everything for the club - that is the sort of player he is.

"Also no player is going to refuse to play when it’s the World Cup at the end of the season.

“The Liverpool fans have nothing to worry about - I do not believe any of the stories about him refusing to play for the club. I know him that is not his way.”
