Jurgen Klopp's side are back in action after the international break having demolished Arsenal 4-0 last time out, and the Reds will look to continue their form in Saturday's early kick-off at the Etihad (12.30pm).
Liverpool are set to welcome Philippe Coutinho back into the fold after a move to Barcelona failed to materialise this summer, although the Brazilian may be forced to watch from the sidelines with the Reds' attack flourishing.
Coutinho may be joined on the bench by new signing Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, with the £35million man unlikely to be handed his debut ahead of Emre Can, Jordan Henderson or Giorginio Wijnaldum.
Adam Lallana and Nathaniel Clyne are still out injured, but Simon Mignolet is expected to return in goal after being rested for the win over Arsenal.
