Philippe Coutinho stuns fans with 15-minute cameo for Brazil

The Liverpool star has today returned to training at Melwood following international duty with Brazil.

Prior to representing his country, Philippe Coutinho made all the headlines with his desire to move to Barcelona.

Coutinho handed in a transfer request but the Reds rejected Barca’s attempts to sign him and blocked his exit.

The 25-year-old is yet to make an appearance for Liverpool this season following a back problem, but having represented Brazil he is now fully fit for Liverpool’s clash with City on Saturday (12.30pm).

And Reds legend Barnes believes Coutinho is mature enough to put the Barca saga behind him and focus on giving his all for Liverpool.

“Jurgen Klopp is so in command of that club, the players have to fall into line,” Barnes told the Daily Star.

“As much as Coutinho wanted to leave, the move hasn’t come about.

“I know Coutinho a little bit. He’s a good character and while he wanted to go to Barcelona he’ll knuckle down and perform.

“I think he’ll feature, I’m sure he’ll be involved in the squad and he’ll be OK.”

A win for either Liverpool or Citywould send them top of the Premier League table with both clubs two points behind leaders Manchester United.
