Chelsea transfer news: Could Diego Costa still leave Chelsea?

Costa has been angling for a move away from Chelsea all summer and set his sights on a return to former club Atletico Madrid.

But deadline day passed with Costa still at Stamford Bridge then 24 hours later the Spanish window closed without any move for the Spain international.

And with just hours to go until the Turkish deadline closes (Turkey is two hours ahead of the UK with the window closing at midnight), Costa’s hopes of leaving now look slim.

Did Diego Costa have a medical in Turkey?

Turkish reports had earlier claimed that Fenerbahce had made an official bid for Costa, and hoped to complete a last-minute deal before their transfer window closes.

Istanbul-based newspaper Hurriyet said the Spanish talisman was scheduled to fly to Turkey today and complete a medical before signing his contract.

Hurriyet suggest the transfer will be a season-long loan, but NtvSpor’s Onur Tugrul claimed Costa had agreed to a six-month spell with Fenerbahce.

However, talk of Costa’s medical has since gone cold and fresh claims about a late bid from Besiktas have not gathered any real momentum.

Could Diego Costa move anywhere else?

Costa’s other options are looking bleak with the transfer window now closed in England, Germany, France, Italy, Scotland, Spain, Brazil, China, Norway, Sweden, Japan, USA and Canada.

But Argentina’s window runs until September 17 and Portugal’s doesn’t close until before September 22.

Sporting Lisbon, Porto or Benfica would probably love a striker of Costa’s pedrigree on their books…

Will Diego Costa return to Chelsea?

If Costa doesn’t leave Chelsea for Turkey, Argentina or Portugal, he would have to return to Chelsea.

Whether he would actually come back is another matter though, having spent the summer in exile back in his homeland of Brazil.

The Mirror say Costa is set to be stuck at Chelsea until January at the earliest after seeing his move to Fenerbachce collapse.

What has Antonio Conte said about Diego Costa?

Antonio Conte spoke about Costa at his press conference this afternoon at the club’s Cobham training ground ahead of their trip to Chelsea tomorrow (3pm).

He said: "(I have) no news about him; my focus is on English football, not Turkey.

"Sometimes it's easy, sometimes it's difficult. But every manager has great experience to face these kinds of situations."
