Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool lost 5-0 to Manchester City today

Ten-men Liverpool were thrashed 5-0 at the Etihad Stadium today.

Sergio Auger’s opener plus doubles from Leroy Sane and Gabriel Jesus saw City well on their way to victory.

The game changed when Sadio Mane was sent off in the first half for a challenge on Ederson, who went to hospital for a scan.

And former West Ham striker Di Canio says Klopp has a major rebuilding job on his hands to get Liverpool firing with confidence again.

“It’s a painful defeat for Liverpool”, Di Canio said on Sky Sport Italia.

“Klopp has to work on the mentality of his players, he has to rebuild their self confidence and get back on track soon.

“It’s a very bad defeat for Liverpool and that could threaten their title expectations.

“Klopp needs to take action immediately.”

Liverpool’s next outing is against Sevilla in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Mane will be available for that clash but is now suspended for Liverpool’s next three domestic fixtures.

He will miss Premier League games against Burnley and Leicester, as well as their League Cup third-round clash against the Foxes.
