Man Utd News: Jose Mourinho given new nickname by staff after losing weight this summer

MANCHESTER UNITED boss Jose Mourinho has reportedly been given the new nickname of ‘The Skinny One’ after losing weight this summer.

Jose Mourinho: I am not satisfied with a point

Manchester United have enjoyed a flying start to the new campaign, winning three of their first four Premier League games.

Mourinho himself has cut a more happier figure - a far cry to the grumpy persona he has adopted at Real Madrid and Chelsea in the past.

And The Sun say Mourinho’s mood extends to the fact he is even able to put up with having the mick taken out of him.

It is said the 54-year-old lost weight over the summer, keeping active at the club’s Carrington training ground.

An insider is quoted as saying: “Jose puts so much effort into his sessions, both mentally and physically. It’s hardly surprising.

“It’s perhaps a little unfair to say he was gaining a pot-belly, as he is now a man in his fifties.

“The problem is living in a hotel hasn’t exactly been conducive to staying in tip-top shape.

“He went with the squad to the United States in pre-season and a few of the staff have privately commented he is looking a lot slimmer these days.

“He’s been spotted around the gym a bit more. He has shed some weight and is looking in tip-top shape.”

Of course, opposition fans may not use his new nickname.

And he himself may opt to stick with the one he gave himself when he first arrived in English football back in 2004.

“I have top players and, I’m sorry, we have a top manager,” he said after succeeding Claudio Ranieri at Chelsea.

“Please do not call me arrogant because what I say is true.

“I’m European champion, I’m not one out of the bottle, I think I’m a special one.”
