Ferdinand: Comparing Rashford to Michael Owen is disrespectful

Marcus Rashford continued his impressive form of scoring on his debut for Manchester United with a goal on his first Champions League appearance.

He has now scored on his debut in the Europa League, Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup while also scoring on his first outings for England at both senior and under-21 level.

Jose Mourinho struggled to fit the 19-year-old into his system last season with Zlatan Ibrahimovic leading the line and a reluctance to play him on the wing.

But this year Rashford has been deployed on the left-side of a front three and now has three goals in his last three games.

The teenager has been touted for a bright future at international level and Liverpool legend Gerrard is excited to see what he can do for his country - but not for United.

"He's got a huge future ahead of him," Gerrard said on BT Sport.

"It's great that he's English. Not so good that he's a United player from my point of view.

"He's got pace, he's got everything to his game.

"He scores goals and we spoke a few weeks ago about Trent Alexander-Arnold having the courage and the character to step up while there's big names around to take free-kicks and credit to the kid having that bottle."
