Tiemoue Bakayoko got his first Champions League goal for Chelsea

Bakayoko, a summer signing from Monaco, made his home Champions League debut for the Blues last night in the .

The victory was the perfect start to the Blues’ group campaign.

Bakayoko got on the scoresheet along with Pedro, Cesar Azpilicueta, Davide Zappacosta and Michy Batshuayi (2).

And Conte was impressed with the midfielder, although he admits he may need more time to settle than the likes of Zappacosta, even though the defender only joined the west London outfit on deadline day.

“To score is always important, above all when you play at home in front of your supporters in the first Champions League game,” Conte said.

“For a young player like him it was very important.

“Baka is improving his physical condition a lot.

“He is a strong player, a physical player, and he has to continue to improve and go better in our idea of football. 

“He needs more time than Zappacosta.”

Chelsea will be hoping to keep up their rich vein of form when they face Arsenal on Sunday (1:30pm).
