Alexis Sanchez is on Real Madrid's striker shortlist for next summer

Sanchez is out of contract next summer and will leave Arsenal for free with Manchester City the expected destination.

But Real Madrid could also be in the race with Florentino Perez considering his options.

The Madrid chief is fed up with Karim Benzema and is running out of patience with Gareth Bale.

Ronaldo is also ageing and will need replacing eventually.

And after missing out on Kylian Mbappe, Perez is taking a look at Sanchez, according to Spanish publication Don Balon.

It is claimed Perez is monitoring Timo Werner, Domenico Berardi, Andrea Belotti, Kasper Dolberg, Robert Lewandowski, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexis Sanchez.

Sanchez is the surprise name on the list having played for Barcelona and being older than the others but he is said to be keen on a return to Spain and wants to leave Arsenal.

The Chile star came close to a move this summer with Manchester City agreeing a deal worth £60m but had it blocked after Arsenal failed to sign Thomas Lemar on deadline day.

Sanchez came on as a substitute for Arsenal against Bournemouth and was given a mixed reaction.

Real Madrid, meanwhile, are struggling in La Liga after two draws from three games and are already four points behind Barcelona.

They face Apoel in the Champions League tonight but have lost key man Marco Asensio to a bizarre injury.

The young forward has got an infection after shaving his legs.
