Man Utd News: Romelu Lukaku had friends here before Everton transfer - Jose Mourinho

MANCHESTER UNITED boss Jose Mourinho has lauded Romelu Lukaku as he prepares to face former club Everton.

Manchester United broke the bank to land Lukaku from Everton in July.

And, though the Belgium international cost a huge £75million, he already looks good value for money.

Lukaku scored on his Champions League debut in midweek, ensuring Mourinho's side get their European campaign off to a flier.

And that means he has now scored six goals in as many games since his arrival.

And Jose Mourinho, speaking as Lukaku prepares to face his old employers for the first time, has hailed his new No9.

"Of course, especially for a striker, it’s important how many goals you score,” said Mourinho.

“But I don’t put any pressure on a player over that.

"He’s playing well, there’s a good relation with the way our striker and the way the team plays, and I’m happy with that relation between the striker and the team.

"I think Romelu comes in the right moment, at a good age, with a good number of years of experience in different clubs in the Premier League.

"He’s clearly a player already adapted to the Premier League, with good friends already in this dressing room, with an easy interaction into our group. He came at the right moment in his career.”

Of course, it is an open secret that Lukaku's closest pal is Paul Pogba.

And the man nicknamed 'Agent P' revealed in July how he convinced his best friend to join him in Manchester.

“I had been preparing for this. It was long work – I took him to dinner and I talked to him.

“I had to work for it but the finale is that he’s here, he’s with us and he’s banging in goals.

“He’s a player who knows the Premier League and can help us a lot.”
