Liverpool news: Jurgen Klopp deserves more criticism for his decisions - Charlie Nicholas

LIVERPOOL manager Jurgen Klopp does not get enough criticism for his team’s performances and the decisions he makes.

That is the view of pundit and former Arsenal forward Charlie Nicholas.

Nicholas claims if Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger made the same decisions as Klopp, he would get a much harder time.

Klopp’s Liverpool had started the season strongly up until last Saturday, when they were brushed aside by Manchester City 5-0 after having Sadio Mane sent off in the first half.

The Reds’ defence had been questioned before that game and a thrashing on behalf of Pep Guardiola’s side did not help the situation.

If it was Arsene Wenger or someone like that, they’d be getting a lot harder time than what Jurgen Klopp is actually getting

Ahead of today’s game against Burnley, Nicholas was wondering why summer-signing Andrew Robertson had not been playing much of late.

Alberto Moreno, who was much-maligned at Anfield last season, has been preferred by Jurgen Klopp, which has confused Nicholas.

“I’m not saying he has to pick Andy Robertson because he’s a family friend of mine, but he brings him in for a reason and then he’s not really involved at all,” Nicholas said on Sky Sports.

“Maybe he’s taking time to settle into the club because it’s a giant club, that can be the case.

Liverpool news: Jurgen Klopp leaving Andrew Robertson out recently is confusing, says Nicholas

“But the left-back that he’s playing now was a guy who was seemingly going out of the door and (James) Milner was playing there because that left-back wasn’t good enough to get Milner out the team.

“He knows there’s problems there but it’s as if he’s saying ‘do you know what, don’t worry about it, because if we batter Arsenal 4-0, we can deflect everything’.

“If it was Wenger or someone like that, they’d be getting a lot harder time than what Klopp is actually getting.”

Robertson did start for Liverpool in today’s match at Anfield against Burnley, only his second appearance in all competitions for the Reds, but was not able to stop his side from being held to a 1-1 draw by Sean Dyche's men.
