Man Utd news: Marouane Fellaini more of a threat to opposition than Paul Pogba - Souness

MANCHESTER UNITED midfielder Marouane Fellaini is more of a threat to opposition than Paul Pogba is.

Fellaini misses simple opportunity against Real Madrid

That is the view of pundit and former Liverpool and Scotland star Graeme Souness.

Fellaini made his first start of the season for Manchester United yesterday in the 4-0 win over Everton at Old Trafford.

The Belgian stepped in for Pogba, who injured his hamstring in the Champions League win over Basel last Tuesday.

Pogba may be out for around three months with the problem so Fellaini could now have an extended period in the starting XI.

If I’m managing a team against Man United, I’d be happier with Paul Pogba on the pitch than Marouane Fellaini

Souness does not think that is a problem though, as he believes opposition managers fear him more than the Frenchman.

“He’s a bigger threat than Paul Pogba,” Souness said on Sky Sports of Fellaini.

“He’s more of a goal threat.

Man Utd news: Managers would rather face Paul Pogba thna Maroaune Fellaini, says Souness

“He is a real goal threat, he’s not silky.

“If I was working with him I’d be saying ‘get the ball, win the ball, use your aggression, stay within the rules of the game, play it simple and get yourself forward’.

“Nobody, nobody is happy competing against him when the ball comes in the box.”

United are back in action Wednesday night when they face Burton Albion in the Carabao Cup (8.00pm) at Old Trafford.
