Man Utd news: Everton win flattered Jose Mourinho’s team - Graeme Souness

MANCHESTER UNITED’s 4-0 win over Everton yesterday flattered Jose Mourinho’s side.

Mourinho praises team's performance in 4-0 win against Everton

That is the view of Sky Sports pundit and Liverpool legend Graeme Souness.

Manchester United scored three goals in the final seven minutes of the game at Old Trafford.

Everton had created a number of chances with the score at 1-0 but failed to beat goalkeeper David de Gea.

Toffees defender Ashley Williams then gave the ball away leading to United’s second through Henrikh Mkhitaryan and the floodgates opened.

If you’re a Man Utd supporter you’re saying ‘we’ve not been at our best but we still won 4-0’

Souness believes the scoreline was harsh on Everton but claims United supporters should be happy with the result because they drew games like that last season.

“I think it did (flatter them),” he said on Sky Sports.

“But if you’re a United supporter or you’re involved with Manchester United, you’re saying ‘we’ve not been at our best but we still won 4-0’.

“You go back last year where they were having similar performances where they dominated for most of the game, and they were getting daft draws out of it.

Man Utd news: Graeme Souness says it's a good sign the Red Devils are winning when not at their best

“This season it seems very different, they don’t have to be at their best to win games.

“That makes them very dangerous going forward.”

United's win took them level on points with rivals Manchester City at the top of the table.

They are back in action on Wednesday when they host Burton Albion in the Carabao Cup at Old Trafford (8pm).
