The Spain international has not played a competitive match in almost 100 days and Antonio Conte has made it clear he is not in his plans.

Los Rojiblancos are desperate to re-sign Costa who netted 72 times for the club over three seasons before he moved to Chelsea in 2014.

The offer is believed to consist of an initial £50m payment with a further £10m based on bonus payments.

That is according to Marca, who claim Atletico continue to await a response to their offer, although it is believed to be an issue regarding loyalty payments which are holding up the deal.

Chelsea do not want to pay the Spaniard what he would be owed if a transfer should occur, which roughly works out at 5% of any initial transfer fee.

Costa is so determined to leave Chelsea that he has already moved all his family’s possessions out of their house in Oxshott, Surrey.

He is also now trying to offload his two expensive cars, a BMW and a Mercedes.

Despite including the 28-year-old in their Premier League squad, it is believed Chelsea boss Conte will not entertain the thought of playing him.

The two clubs are still in disagreement over their valuations of their striker, with the blues demanding £66m according to pundit Guillem Balague.

Former Chelsea midfielder Ray Wilkins thinks the Premier League champions would be best suited using Costa alongside Alvaro Morata in attack.

“I would much sooner have Costa than Morata,“ he said.

“The question is, why haven’t we got both?

“Costa should be at Stamford Bridge, we should be using both of them and then we would have a proper strike-force.”
