“Disappointing. Sometimes you forgot he was even playing in the game. You expect him to be all-action up and down that wing and we didn’t see it. Creating chances, running at the defence” Heskey said on Sky Sports of his performance.

The former Leicester and Liverpool striker has been giving his opinions on Philippe Coutinho, and believes tonight proved why Barcelona wanted him so badly.

He told Sky Sports: “No one can get near him, no one dares to really put a challenge in on him. He dances around two or three players there, they tried to get close to him but the way he manoeuvres his body is great. That’s why the big teams like Barcelona are all looking at players like him.”

22:15: They’re still slugging it out at Turf Moor. It’s 2-2 with about eight-minutes of extra time before penalties.

22:12: So that’s a very angry Jurgen Klopp. Seeing lots of people on Twitter delighted that he’s finally taken aim at his defence. I wonder how much difference Virgil van Dijk would have made to their fortunes.

22:10: Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp: “It’s easy to explain. We played really good football in the first half and that should have decided the game. We had big chances, we had strange situations. But football is a 90-minute game and it’s the second ball after a corner I think and a throw in again. 

“I’m sick of goals like this to be honest. You cannot play football and, in this case this Leicester team somehow survive in the game because we are not clinical enough.

“Sometimes that’s OK but we should have concentrated until the end. They scored too easily. The first goal we didn’t push up together. I can say it one time or one thousand times. It’s not nice conceding these goals today again because of this.”

21:54: I should also mention that Swansea won 2-0 against Reading and Tottenham edged past Barnsley 1-0.

21:52: There have been a couple of extra-time goals. Bournemouth are ahead against Brighton thanks to Josh King. Wolves have taken the lead over Bristol Rovers thanks to Bright Enobakhare.

21:55: Craig Shakespeare is speaking to Sky Sports now. He’s lauding himself for bringing Shinji Okazaki on for Leonardo Ulloa midway through the second half. Although I should point out that it was an enforced change because Ulloa took a knock to the head…

21:50: Here’s the details for tomorrow's fourth-round draw.

* The draw will be made live on Sky Sports after the live match between Manchester United and Burton Albion on Wednesday.

* The Carabao Cup fourth-round ties will be drawn from the Sky Sports studio in London at around 10pm (if the game doesn't go to extra-time).

RESULTS ELSEWHERE…

Bournemouth and Brighton are heading into extra-time, as are Wolves and Bristol Rovers after goalless draws. Burnley have just scored a 97th-minute equaliser against Leeds to force added time after a 2-2 finish.

Norwich beat Brentford 3-1, Bristol City knocked Premier League Stoke out after a 2-0 win.

Roy Hodgson’s Crystal Palace beat Huddersfield 1-0, and West Ham won 3-0 over Bolton to book a spot in tomorrow’s fourth-round draw.

Swansea are winning 2-0 over Reading, while Spurs are winning 1-0 against Barnsley with about five minutes to play.

LEICESTER 2-0 LIVERPOOL

FT: That’s all folks. Leicester have knocked Liverpool out of the Carabao Cup with a good 2-0 victory. Don’t think of leaving me through, I’ve got all the reaction coming up shortly.

91: Gray glides past Flanagan, who attempts to bring him down with a rugby tackle, but his cross for Slimani is a touch too strong.

88: The game’s sort of dwindling towards full-time now folks. Not much happening for either side. Woodburn strikes from distance but Iborra takes the sting off it with his head. Ouch!

85: The Reds are back here again on Saturday. The return of Roberto Firmino and Mo Salah could make all the difference. Choudhury comes on for his debut in place of Ndidi. I’ve heard plenty of good things about this youngster.

83: Well where does this leave Jurgen Klopp? The Liverpool boss was slammed by Alan Shearer for NOT improving the club’s fortunes since Brendan Rodgers left, and now he’s out of the Carabao Cup.

80: Great save! Fray almost makes it three with a wonderful curling effort but Ward gets the crucial touch send it wide for a corner. Leicester running riot here at the King Power.

78: Game, set and match.

I’m surprised Islam Slimani didn’t break the net with that. The Algeria international collects a clearance before slamming it into the top left-hand corner with an absolute rocket.

Ward, Mignolet and Karius wouldn’t have saved that if all three were between the sticks!

77: If Danny Ings wasn’t rusty, you’d place a large sum on him scoring that. The striker gets a lucky break after a couple of deflections but mistimes the header.

76: Ragnar Klavan is booked for a clumsy challenge on Shinji Okazaki, who really has changed everything for Leicester. Ben Woodburn goes for an audacious chip, but it lands on the roof of the net.

75: Here comes Danny Ings. The injury-prone striker comes on to replace Gigi Wijnaldum. First appearance since October 2016.

72: It’s getting feisty folks. Referee Stuart Attwel ignores about three of four risky challenges before penalising Jordan Henderson. Keeps his cards in his pocket though.

70: It’s all Liverpool now. Leicester are content to absorb pressure and play exclusively on the break. Vintage Foxes. Anyway, Ox delivers a free-kick that somehow alludes everyone.

68: Well that’s sparked some life into this game. Ben Woodburn tees up Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who blasts over from the edge of the area.

65: And there’s the breakthrough! Thank God something’s happened. Iborra knocks a looping cross down to the unmarked Shinji Okazaki, who scuffs it beyond Danny Ward.

Not the most spectacular goal you’ll see, not will it make any highlights packages, but it was damn effective.

64: Lots of hooooooof ball happening at the moment with neither team keeping possession for more than a few passes. If I was a betting man, I’d say we’re heading for extra-time.

61: Not too much to report in the way of chances. There’s is much to report about the snacks I’m tucking into though. Peanut M&M’s if you’re asking…

58: There’s more bite about Leicester now after a tepid first half. Demarai Gray goes weaves past a few players before sending a skidding effort wide.

56: Liverpool haven’t managed to pick up from where they left off. The departure of Philippe Coutinho’s probably got something to do with that.

54: Leicester are back to a full compliment as Shinji Okazaki replaces Leonard Ulloa. I can only see that being a positive thing for the Foxes.

53: There’s a pause in play as Leonardo Ulloa goes down injured. He cleared a corner but stayed down in some considerable discomfort. Leicester playing with 10 while he’s off.

52: I guess the withdrawal of Philippe Coutinho looks strange, but when you consider Liverpool’s clash with Leicester again on Saturday and the Champions League trip to Moscow next week, it makes sense.

48: Leicester start the half well by winning a free-kick in the opening 30 seconds. It’s in wonderful striking range. Gray, who drew the foul, steps up… wayward. The youngster sends it high and wide.

45: And we’re back underway. Liverpool bring Ben Woodburn on for Philippe Coutinho. Not sure about that one myself…

HT: There were nine 7.45pm kick-offs tonight, and we’ve only seen four goals so far. What ever happened to League Cup mayhem?!

Anyway, Norwich are 1-0 up against Brentford, Huddersfield are losing 1-0 to Crystal Palace, and West Ham are having a comfortable night against Championship Bolton. They lead 2-0.

There’s still around 10 minutes left to play in the games between Reading and Swansea, Tottenham and Barnsley. They remain goalless.

LEICESTER 0-0 LIVERPOOL

HT: It’s not been a classic, but Liverpool will wonder how they aren’t ahead at the break. This Ulloa/Slimani experiment should be addressed for Leicester.

45: Chance right on he stroke of half-time. Coutinho plays a ball over the top to commit the Leicester goalkeeper, but Solanke overcooks the chip. Should have done better.

43: Danger! Philippe Coutinho has a free-kick in Philippe Coutinho range. He steps up… high and wide! Still a bit rusty by the looks of it.

41: No idea what Leicester are doing. They win a free-kick in a decent position, but instead of lumping it in the box for one of their giants to meet, they play it short and lose possession.

40: Dominic Solanke and Ben Chilwell are both receiving treatment after a 50/50 challenge. The former Chelsea forward is back to his feet, and after a quick hug from Klopp, he’s back on.

36: Men v Boys going on here folks. Liverpool switching it from left to right with ease. Ox delivers an outswinging corner, but it fails to beat the first man.

35: Liverpool are getting in at will. Oxlade-Chamberlain is the latest to shoot straight down Hamer’s throat.

33: Philippe Coutinho is looking sharp. The Brazilian was a little off the pace against Burnley on Saturday, but it looks like he’s got his marbles together after a summer of transfer confusion.

30: Inches away! Robertson is again the architect down the left flank. He's looking brilliant tonight. The full-back whips a cross across the goal but Coutinho can’t apply the finishing touch.

28: Leicester are going to have to make some changes because this simply isn’t working. Craig Shakespeare has Okazaki, Mahrez, Iheanacho and Musa on the bench. Might be time to throw one of them into the mix for either Ulloa or Slimani.

24: First attack of the evening from Leicester results in Gray thumping a wayward drive from 25-yards out after a mazy solo run. Liverpool respond through a terrific bending ball from Robertson that Solanke can’t quite connect with.

22: Coutinho collects the ball from 30 yards and fizzes a shot straight at Hamer. Jurgen Klopp has a bit of a tantrum when Oxlade-Chamberlain shoots instead of laying it off to Solanke.

18: Another update, another chance for Liverpool. A corner is whipped in but Grujic nods over. Leicester are still being swamped. They’ve relinquished control of the midfield in favour of two big forwards, and it’s not really working.

15: Coutinho embarks on a signature run through Leicester’s defence, but Hamer dives to his left and makes the save.

14: It’s looking like only a matter of time before Liverpool make the breakthrough. Leicester are giving away possession far too cheaply in midfield. Coutinho and Robertson are having a field day down the left.

11: Another inviting cross by Robertson - this time it flashes across the box without contact. Jurgen Klopp’s side definitely in the ascendency.

9: Chance! Outstanding last-ditch tackle from Ben Chilwell. Philippe Coutinho sets Robertson fee on the left, but Chilwell puts in a superb block to prevent Oxlade-Chamberlain from converting the cutback. Lively start.

6: Marc Albrighton wins a corner after thumping it against Joe Gomez from no distance. The winger takes it himself but it’s a little too deep for Wes Morgan to connect with.

3: Quite a staggered start here at the King Power. Plenty of atmosphere but no early chances to speak of. Interesting to see how the OX fares on the right of a front three.

1: We’re underway folks. Got a sneaky feeling Liverpool are going to edge this. Perhaps penalties.

19:43: The players have emerged from the tunnel with the Leicester trumpets going ballistic. I half suspected some kind of cavalry charge for a moment there!

19:40: Jurgen Klopp on Oxlade-Chamberlain: "If he starts in a front three, I don’t want to always see him on one wing or something like this.

“If he plays in the No 8, I don’t want to see him fixed in this position. It’s football; you have to defend in one position and you have to be very flexible in all the other situations. That’s what I expect from him in the long-term."

19:37: Liverpool have won just one of their last five League Cup games against Premier League teams (D1 L3).

19:35: Liverpool WILL lose tonight, according to Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson.

“I’m going to go Leicester to win this. Yeah I’m going to go Leicester at home,” he said on Sky Sports.

“I think with Liverpool being in the Champions League and still fighting for the top four and Premier League, yeah I think Leicester at home. I’ve just seen the teams come up, Liverpool’s team, and I think Leicester will cause them problems."

19:30: Odds, odds, odds. Here comes the inevitable ‘who’s favourite to win the competition’ story folks.

I’m only cynical about these odds because most of the big boys field weakened teams, so it’s pretty difficult to get stuck in.

Anyway, Manchester United are favourites at 11/2, while Chelsea, Manchester City and Arsenal aren’t far behind.

I have to say, City at 6/1 look a decent shout. Especially considering Ilkay Gundogan, Yaya Toure and Leroy Sane would represent a ‘weakened team’ for Pep Guardiola’s side.

19:25: Jurgen Klopp believes his side have the depth in the squad to compete in different competitions but did not rule out signing reinforcements in January.

Having missed out on Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk, Klopp brought in Mohammad Salah, Dominic Solanke, Andrew Robertson and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in the close season.

Ahead of tonight’s trip to Leicester, the German said he was happy with the personnel at his disposal at the moment.

"From today's perspective, yes - we will see how it is in January. I think the squad is wide enough to play in different competitions and to come as far as possible and that's the plan at the moment," he told the club's website.

19:10: Alan Shearer has risked the wrath of the Liverpool supporters after slamming Jurgen Klopp.

The former England striker says Liverpool have made no significant headway under Klopp since the German replaced Brendan Rodgers.

"The truth... is that Liverpool are no different under boss Klopp than they were under Brendan Rodgers," Shearer wrote.

"What I witnessed on Saturday in their draw at home to Burnley was laughable. I am left wondering just what he does on the training ground when the same defensive errors are repeated week in, week out."

Craig Shakespeare starts the big boys together with Islam Slimani and Leonardo Ulloa leading the attack, presumably to target Liverpool’s aerial vulnerability.

An audio problem left viewers relying on on-screen graphics to learn who each team had drawn, with Charlton playing in two different ties.

The draw for the second round of the Carabao Cup was also marred by confusion as John Salako drew ties the wrong way around.

After some extensive Googling, and a few computer-related tantrums, I can reveal that Carabao is an energy drink.

Apparently it’s on sale in England although I've never personally seen it, but then again, I’ve never heard of most of the Premier League shirts sponsors this year.

Jamie Vardy is a major doubt for Leicester ahead of tonight's Carabao Cup clash against Liverpool.

The striker has a groin problem following Saturday's 1-1 draw at Huddersfield while Matty James (Achilles), Robert Huth (ankle) and Christian Fuchs (eye) are out.

Adrien Silva remains sidelined after FIFA blocked his £22million transfer from Sporting Lisbon because his documentation was received 14 seconds after the deadline. Leicester are finalising an appeal.

LIVERPOOL TEAM NEWS

Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will make his first start for the club in the Carabao Cup.

The England international, who moved to Anfield on transfer deadline day, will be joined in the team by third-choice goalkeeper Danny Ward and fellow midfielder Marko Grujic.

Striker Dominic Solanke is also set to be involved while manager Jurgen Klopp is set to make a number of changes as forward Sadio Mane sits out the second game of his three-match ban.

"There is no rush but we are in this three-game-a-week rhythm and during the international break he was with the national team. But it is a long-term project so I have no problem. We sat together with him and the analysts and showed him how we want him to play in this position and that position.”
