Mick Quinn: Negligence and arrogance has hurt Liverpool

Liverpool were dumped out of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday by Leicester thanks to goals from Shinji Okazaki and Islam Slimani.

This highlighted the Reds’ defensive frailties, which has seen Jurgen Klopp come in for heavy criticism after failing to strengthen in the summer transfer window.

have now shipped 10 goals in their last four matches and have failed to register a win in that time too.

Klopp admitted after the cup defeat to the Foxes that he is ’sick’ of his side’s poor defending.

But he will be looking to get revenge against and get back to winning ways when they face off today.

Craig Shakespeare’s men, meanwhile, will be looking to create some breathing space between themselves and the relegation zone.

With all this in mind, Owen expects this to be the game of the weekend.

I expect fireworks from the two sides on Saturday

Michael Owen

“The pick of the weekend’s Premier League games is a repeat of Tuesday’s League Cup tie that saw Leicester win 2-0 at the King Power Stadium,” Owen told BetVictor

“However, BetVictor make the Reds odds-on to reverse the form in Saturday’s evening kick-off.

“Both are often prone to defensive mistakes and with two excellent attacking line-ups in action I expect fireworks from the two sides on Saturday.”
