Loris Karius - 5 things you need to know

Mignolet is set to be named on the bench this evening when Karius returns to between the sticks for Liverpool’s Champions League clash with Spartak Moscow (7.45pm).

Karius has only featured in one Premier League game this season, the 4-0 win over Arsenal last month.

The 24-year-old was initially brought in by Klopp in 2016 as his first-choice goalkeeper before a number of errors led to him being dropped.

He also came in for some heavy criticism from TV pundits Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher at the time.

But Karius insists his confidence hasn’t been dented at Anfield after a slow start and still has his eyes on dislodging Mignolet as Liverpool’s No1.

“For us, it is just about performing and showing the manager what we are capable of,” Karius said.

“I see it as a chance. I didn’t have an easy start last season.
