Ronald Koeman’s side are recovering from a slow start to the season and looking to make it three wins from three before facing Burnley on Sunday.

Everton have five long term absentees in Ramiro Funes Mori, Seamus Coleman, Yannick Bolasie, James McCarthy and Ross Barkley, and have two more defenders missing for the Apollon match.

“Still Michael Keane and Phil (Jagielka) are not available for tomorrow and are doubtful for the weekend. The rest of the injury list remains the same,” said Koeman.

“It is really important to play full of confidence.

“By the start of the season we knew it was a tough start as preseason was different than normal, as we had to play in July the qualification for the Europa League.

“The wins in the last two games against Sunderland and the last one we got against Bournemouth are important, but this is a different competition and we need to react as the result we got in Italy was not what we like.

“You play three times at home in the group stage which means you need to win the three at home, which means you have a great opportunity to get to the next round.”

Right-back Mason Holgate has deputised at centre-back and is encouraged by the team’s recent form.

“We had a difficult run of games at the start of the season, but as a team we were never worried. We have the ability to cause other teams trouble and are looking at kicking on,” said Holgate.

“Once you’ve got a few wins, confidence starts coming in and things start dropping for you.

“Once we’re firing we can cause anybody trouble.”
