Liverpool news: Philippe Coutinho comments on Barcelona transfer saga - I’m calm

PHILIPPE COUTINHO insists he has put his summer transfer fiasco behind him and is fully focussed on working hard for Liverpool.

Liverpool's Coutinho scores wonder goal against Moscow

Coutinho looks back to his best in Liverpool colours, having scored in each of his last two games.

His latest strike came in Liverpool’s 1-1 draw with Spartak Moscow on Tuesday night.

That game was only Coutinho’s fifth appearance of the season having missed the opening games due to a back injury coupled with continued uncertainty over his future with Barcelona making it clear they wanted to sign him.

Liverpool rejected three bids from the La Liga giants and refused to sell the Brazil international, despite Coutinho handing in a transfer request at the club.

Barcelona are expected to return with another bid next summer.

But Coutinho insists he is no longer thinking of what could have been and wants to give his all for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

“I’m calm,” Coutinho said.

“It’s all passed by, I’m here to defend the colours — to give my maximum.”

Tuesday’s match against Spartak Moscow was also the first opportunity Klopp had to play his ‘fab four’ of Coutinho, Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino.

Coutinho was the only one to get on the scoresheet but Klopp has urged for patience from fans regarding the foursome.

“It is good when you have all these players but it is not (just) lining up the players, they all need rhythm and it was a very intense game,” said Klopp after the game earlier this week.

“It is not about the names it is about how we perform.”
