Olaus Jair Skarsem is widely regarded as one of Norway’s hottest young prospects.

The 19-year-old midfielder currently plays for the Rosenborg second team and is considered one for the future.

Reports in Norway claim the Reds are aware of Skarsem’s potential and have asked for regular updates on his progress.

And the Anfield club are said to be confident of reaching an agreement for the teenager due to their ties with Rosenborg.

The Norwegian side’s sporting director is former Liverpool defender Stig Inge Bjornebye.

And the club hope the familiarity between both parties will speed up the negotiation process and give them the edge.

Jurgen Klopp has made appointing younger players a priority and made Marko Grujic from Red Star Belgrade one of his first signings.

He has also promoted youth players to the first team and has handed opportunities to Trent Alexander-Arnold and Ben Woodburn.

The Reds have also been linked with a move for 19-year-old Borussia Dortmund star Christian Pulisic in recent weeks.

However, his father Mark Pulisic revealed earlier this year his son has a soft spot for Real Madrid and used to be nicknamed ‘Figo’.

"I called him Figo from a young age,” he told website Goal.

“We watched Real Madrid a lot during those years. He liked the way Figo played, so I bought him a jersey with Figo's name on it."
