That is according to former Chelsea defender-turned-pundit Wayne Bridge.

Kante, 26, signed for the Blues from Leicester off the back of winning the Premier League title at the King Power Stadium in the summer of 2016.

And his exploits in the engine room of ’s midfield ensured he became a back-to-back title winner as he helped guide the west London club to the crown in Antonio Conte’s first season in charge.

Conte’s side have kicked off the defence of their title strongly too, with Kante once again playing a pivotal role by starting in all six of their opening six league games.

The Blues currently sit third and three points behind Manchester United and Manchester City in the table.

Chelsea entertain City at Stamford Bridge today (5:30pm) with Kante likely to play a part after playing the full 90 minutes in the dramatic 2-1 win over Atletico Madrid in the Champions League earlier this week.

And Bridge, who won all the domestic honours at Chelsea including back-to-back titles, has heaped special praise on the France international by insisting that he reminds him of former Blues team-mate Makelele.

“Kante is just like having another Makélélé back,” Bridge told The Sun at a PokerStars event in Dublin

“He won player of the year and has made a massive difference in terms of a defensive midfielder, the way he gets around the pitch tackling.

"They had Matic who could sit a little bit for them but Kante is a totally different player.

“He reminds me of Makélélé so much when we did so well with him at Chelsea.

“He’s great for the team and he’s one of my favourite Chelsea players at the moment.”
