Harry Kane: Tottenham star is best centre-forward in the world - Sky Sports pundit Merson

Kane failed to score in the month of August but has made up for that in September.

The England star netted nine times in his last five outings in all competitions for Tottenham ahead of today’s game with Huddersfield.

He continued his fine form in front of goal, by scoring twice to help Spurs into a 3-0 lead at half-time at the John Smith's Stadium.

Kane is the back-to-back Golden Boot winner and is the favourite to make it three in a row with the bookies.

Merson is a huge fan of the 24-year-old and says he is better than the likes of Robert Lewandowski at Bayern Munich.

“Today as we speak I think he is the best centre-forward in the world of football at the moment,” Merson said on Sky Sports of Harry Kane.

“People will be going ‘oh what about (Lionel) Messi? What about (Cristiano) Ronaldo?’. No, they’re not out-and-out centre-forwards. 

“I’m putting him up with Lewandowski, people like that. 

“He scores all kinds of goals, the ball can hit the post and it will comeback three yards out and he will tap it in. 

“And then he’ll get the ball on the left, cut inside and score from 30 yards. 

“He gets all kinds of goals, there are no goals he doesn’t scorer. 

“For me, at the moment, I think he’s the best centre-forward in the world. 

“He can score all kinds of goals, all kinds of goals.”

Tottenham went on to beat Huddersfield 4-0, with Moussa Sissoko rounding off the win.
