Chelsea news: Eden Hazard declares ‘I want to play as a No 10’

CHELSEA star Eden Hazard has publicly declared his desire to play as a No 10.

Gerrard suggests Eden Hazard is too good for Chelsea

Hazard starred in Chelsea’s 2-1 Champions League win over Atletico Madrid on Wednesday, playing centrally behind striker Alvaro Morata.

He was once again named in that position for tonight’s clash against Manchester City.

The Belgian forward admits he likes playing with Morata as they link up well.

“Yeah I want to play as a No 10,” Hazard told BT Sport pundit and Chelsea legend Frank Lampard.

“Of course playing with Morata is good because we can have this link together.

“Sometimes on the side the opponent know me so it’s more easy to control me.

“But more inside is better because as soon as we get the ball I can go close to the goal.”

Ahead of tonight’s game against City, Eden Hazard admitted it is difficult playing three days after a midweek game.

“It’s not easy because we played on Wednesday,” he added.

“Now we play Saturday, maybe it’s better if we played Sunday.

“But as a professional, you know this, massage every day, ice bath and all the stuff. We are in a good condition.”

Despite playing in a slightly different role, Hazard still knows his defensive responsibilities in Antonio Conte’s Chelsea side.

The 26-year-old said: “As a team yes we have to defend.

“If one player is not in a defensive position, we can be in trouble.”

Hazard could not help his side overcome Manchester City this evening, as a Kevin de Bruyne goal helped Pep Guardiola's side to a 1-0 victory.
