Man Utd news: Marcus Rashford is special and will fulfil potential - Juan Mata

JUAN MATA believes Marcus Rashford has the temperament and ability to reach the very pinnacle of world football at Manchester United.

Rashford's goal for Man United against Burton Albion

Rashford was a constant menace at the weekend against Crystal Palace and topped his performance off with two assists.

He now has five goals and four assists for the season in all competitions so far and has seen his minutes increase from last season when he was used as more of a back-up to Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Jose Mourinho has opted to deploy him on the left wing this campaign, but played in his preferred central position in the EFL Cup win over Burton, finishing the game with two goals.

And United team-mate Mata has been blown away by Rashford’s temperament at such a young age, and expects him to continue his rapid development.

I think he has a lot of talents and he’s got a good mentality, which is important at that age

“I think he’s been brilliant,” said Mata.

“I think he’s a special kid. I think he has a lot of talents and he’s got a good mentality, which is important at that age.

“He’s performing very well, week-in, week-out. Even coming from the bench he’s helping a lot. I really believe he is going to be a big player for club and country.

“It’s down to everything he does on the pitch, the qualities he has, the important player he is in some difficult games where he just takes the ball and scores two great goals, like in the League Cup.

“I see so many players at that age like this, and then they don’t keep consistency, but I believe he can because it’s down to his mentality and he has the right mentality for that.”

United face a tough test away from home after the international break when they travel to rivals Liverpool on October 14.
