Liverpool news: Jurgen Klopp’s side don’t have key attribute Man Utd have - Stuart Pearce

LIVERPOOL do not have the fear factor that Manchester United and Manchester City have, according to former England defender Stuart Pearce.

Liverpool's Jurgen Klopp has rude outburst at press conference

Liverpool have won just one game in their last seven in all competitions.

Jurgen Klopp’s side were held to a disappointing 1-1 draw at Newcastle yesterday despite dominating large parts of the match.

Pearce says opposition teams do not fear facing Liverpool as they would with some of their rivals.

“I just think they’re not finishing teams off,” Pearce said on Sky Sports.

There’s not that fear factor like there is at the moment with United and City especially

“They’ve had a superiority of possession in the games but they’re just not finishing teams off.

“Maybe that little air of vulnerability that other teams coming into the game to face them, there’s not that fear factor like there is at the moment with Manchester United and City especially, maybe even a little bit with Tottenham as well.”

Pearce says the current problem first arose back in January when Sadio Mane went to the African Cup of Nations.

Liverpool struggled without the Senegal star for the three weeks he was away.

“I think we saw an indicator of it back in January when Mane was missing from the team,” Pearce added.

“They failed to beat some of the teams that we expected them to beat.

“I think all the games that you keep dropping two points on, when you end up drawing against teams who are in and around you or are expected to beat, are always going to erode you.

“You know full well United and City are going to keep winning.”

Liverpool's task does not get any easier, as they face United at Anfield following the international break on October 14.
