Liverpool news: Daniel Sturridge will leave even if scores 20 goals - Pearce

LIVERPOOL striker Daniel Sturridge could score over 20 goals this season but will end up leaving the Reds at some point.

That is what former England defender and Sky Sports pundit Stuart Pearce thinks.

Sturridge made his third Liverpool start of the season yesterday in the 1-1 draw at Newcastle.

The England international had a great opportunity to score in the second half but saw his close-range effort saved by Toon goalkeeper Rob Elliot.

Pearce cannot see Sturridge being at Anfield much longer but says he may be the missing goal threat for Jurgen Klopp this term.

I think at some stage he’ll leave Liverpool to go onto different pastures

“I think a bit of sharpness and a bit of confidence (are missing),” Pearce said of Daniel Sturridge's performance yesterday.

“I watched the game yesterday and he just didn’t look fully at it.

“I don’t know whether the fact that he’d been left out last season has affected his mentality a little bit and he doesn’t feel loved at the club by Klopp.

“He had a great opportunity yesterday and was okay but you expect him to score goals in games like this.

Liverpool news: Daniel Sturridge will leave Anfield at some point, says Pearce

“I think at some stage he’ll leave Liverpool to go onto different pastures. When that is I don’t know.

“A lot of that will depend on his form.

“If he can prove he’s got value at Liverpool, he may be the one that gets 20-odd goals this season.

“But he needs to find that spark and I didn’t see that spark in his play yesterday.”
