Michy Batshuayi has struggled to get a look-in at Chelsea this season

Chelsea’s good run came to a halt on Saturday when they lost 1-0 to City at Stamford Bridge.

After Alvaro Morata came off with a hamstring problem, Conte brought on Willian instead, playing him up front.

And it was a decision that baffled Shearer.

“Their dominance of champions Chelsea, despite the narrow 1-0 scoreline, was a huge statement by City,” Shearer told The Sun.

“It was also worrying for Chelsea that they could be dominated so much on their own turf.

If he does not trust him enough what was going on in the summer with their recruitment?

“For the life of me I could not understand why Antonio Conte did not bring on Michy Batshuayi when Alvaro [Morata] limped off ten minutes before the break.

“He had just scored a midweek winner against Atletico Madrid and his confidence must have been soaring.

“But Conte plumped for Willian instead with Batshuayi not being trusted until the 73rd minute.
