Has Alvaro Morata fallen foul of the 'cursed' Chelsea No.9?
Morata claimed the No.9 shirt following his summer move from Real Madrid, with the Spaniard becoming the Blues’ record signing after his £67million switch.
Upon arrival Chelsea confirmed Morata would pull on the famous number, but this was not necessarily a good move from the player considering the amount of woe surrounding the shirt in recent years.
Stretching way back to Jose Mourinho’s first spell in charge at Stamford Bridge, the No.9 has proved a heavy burden for the host of strikers, midfielders AND defenders who pulled it on.
Morata has now been struck down by a serious hamstring problem, and there will undoubtedly be some Chelsea fans who are fearing the worst after seeing the fate of former No.9s.
