During his stint in charge of Barcelona he guided the Nou Camp club to two La Liga titles, the Copa del Rey and the UEFA Super Cup.

Were Van Gaal to return to Bayern he would likely have to bury the hatchet with club president Uli Hoeness, Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung claim.

Hoeness sacked the Dutchman during his first stint as president and the decision on who should replace Carlo Ancelotti will likely rest with him.
