Man Utd news: Jose Mourinho has the best squad in the Premier League, says Wilkins

That is the view of former Manchester United midfielder and Sky Sports pundit Ray Wilkins.

United are level on points with Manchester City at the top of the table after seven games this season.

The only thing that separates the two sides is goal difference, with Pep Guardiola’s men edging out the Red Devils.

But Wilkins thinks the way United have coped without the injured Paul Pogba shows they have the best squad in the league.

And he says they have a great chance to go on and win their first title since 2013 and first under Jose Mourinho.

“I think personally they have the best squad in the Premier League,” Wilkins said.

“They’ve lost Pogba for the last couple of weeks.

“I know (Sergio) Aguero is going to be missing as far as Manchester City are concerned.

“But when you look at what they’ve got who’s come in, Herrera was one of their best players last year and he’s playing a bit-part role at the moment with (Juan) Mata.

“(Nemanja) Matic is playing out of his skin, (Henrikh) Mkhitaryan is a different player to what he was last year.

“I think Manchester United have every chance of going the whole hog.”

The two giants don't go head-to-head this season until December 9.
