Man Utd news: Jose Mourinho has not done enough to win the league this year, says Burley
Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho splashed out almost £150million on new signings in the summer transfer window after finishing sixth last term.
The Red Devils are currently level on points with Manchester City at the top of the table after seven games, with only goal difference separating the two.
Burley admits United look a far better side than they were in Jose Mourinho’s first year in charge but does not think they are at the level to finish top of the pile yet.
“I think they’ve moved forward,” the former Chelsea midfielder said on ESPN FC.

“I think they've made a big stride forward. The two Manchester clubs have made a big stride forward, we’re going to find out where Chelsea evolve in all of this.
“But I think clearly Manchester United have made a step forward, the results would suggest it.
“I think against weaker teams last year they gave up points, they weren’t as clinical, they weren’t as strong, as organised.
“They’ve got (Nemanja) Matic in there (now), they’ve got a more dynamic striker in (Romelu) Lukaku, who obviously hasn’t got the quality of (Zlatan) Ibrahimovic.

“(Marcus) Rashford’s playing, (Henrikh) Mkhitaryan’s playing more in his own role.
“I think they’ve taken a stride forward, I really do.
"I’ve not got them to win the league.
"I don’t think they’ve taken a big enough one for me but I do think they’ve moved in the right direction.”
