Chelsea news: Alvaro Morata gives injury update in Instagram story

CHELSEA striker Alvaro Morata has allayed fears about his injury by posting an Instagram story showing him working in the gym.

Alvaro Morata pulled up in the first half of Chelsea’s 1-0 defeat to Manchester City last weekend with a hamstring injury.

While on international duty Spain officials claimed the striker had suffered a grade two strain and could be out for weeks.

However, further reports have suggested the injury was not as bad a first feared.

And the 24-year-old seems to have confirmed the fact by sharing a story with his Instagram followers of him working out in the gym.

The video shows the striker dressed in his Chelsea gear working out on a bike and he looks in good shape.

Morata’s initial prognosis was six weeks out, however, it looks possible he could now return for the Crystal Palace clash on October 14.

The Instagram post is similar to a Tweet Morata wrote earlier this week but bizarrely deleted.

In the Tweet, Morata wrote: “I have no time to lose! Working hard towards recovery! Crystal Palace.”

Antonio Conte is reportedly not happy with the Chelsea hierarchy in the aftermath of Morata’s injury.

He feels the club messed up the deal for Fernando Llorente, who joined their rivals Tottenham, leaving him light on strikers.

The Blues have just Michy Batshuayi to call upon who Conte appears not to favour.

Following Morata’s injury against City, the Italian left the Belgium international on the bench, playing Eden Hazard as a striker instead.
