Arsenal News: Arsene Wenger ready to battle Marseille for PSG star Lucas Moura in January

ARSENAL are ready to battle Marseille for the signing of Paris Saint-Germain star Lucas Moura, reports say.

Lucas Moura - 5 things you need to know

Arsenal are likely to lose Alexis Sanchez at the end of the season, with both Manchester clubs and PSG being linked with a summer transfer.

The Chile international came precariously close to leaving the Emirates on deadline day, with Manchester City having a bid accepted.

But Arsenal’s failure to sign Thomas Lemar from Monaco ultimately saw Sanchez stay put, though it seems only a matter of time before he leaves north London.

And Transfer Market Web say they are ready to go all out to sign Moura, whose own future in Paris is shrouded in uncertainty.

PSG had the most memorable summer in their history earlier this year.

Not content with raiding Barcelona for Neymar, they were also able to strike a deal with Monaco over a loan deal for Kylian Mbappe.

With the likes of Lucas, Edinson Cavani, Angel Di Maria and Julian Draxler on their books, a squad culling seems inevitable in the New Year.

And Transfer Market Web say Arsenal are ready to exploit that by signing Lucas ahead of Marseille.

PSG are also under pressure to offload players to meet Financial Fair Play regulations.

Unai Emery’s team offloaded Serge Aurier and Blaise Matuidi to Tottenham and Juventus respectively but further squad trimming is needed.

Meanwhile, former PSG and Chelsea defender Alex thinks Moura would a perfect fit for Arsene Wenger’s side.

The 35-year-old told L'Equipe': "If I was in his place, I would have already left to make an impact elsewhere.

Arsenal News: PSG star Lucas Moura could replace Alexis Sanchez

"Spanish football could suit him – he could take advantage of the space with his speed and technique.

"Even if England does not seem favourable, I would like to see him at Arsenal. They play cleaner football, more technical."

Lucas has been at PSG since signing from Brazilian side San Paulo back in 2012.

Manchester United appeared primed to sign him at that point but the winger opted to move to France instead.
