MANCHESTER UNITED midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan has taken full responsibility for Armenia’s “shameful” defeat to Poland.

Armenia fell to a 6-1 loss at home to Poland in their World Cup qualifier on Thursday night.

Artur Petrosyan’s side were three goals down after 25 minutes before Mkhitaryan set up Hovhannes Hambardzumyan to pull one back just before half time.

But Armenia shipped another three goals in the second half, which saw Robert Lewandowski complete his hat-trick to become Poland’s all-time leading scorer.

And Armenia captain Mkhitaryan, who has been in stunning form for Manchester United this term, insists he is at fault for the defeat.

"Problems are everywhere," said the 28-year-old, who has scored two goals and provided six assists for Unitedso far this season.

"We must do everything to ensure that this does not happen again in the match against Kazakhstan. There are no words.

"It was a shameful defeat. I am the captain of the team, and I undertake all responsibility for defeat from Poland."

Armenia, who will finish fifth in Group E, take on rock bottom Kazakhstan for their final World Cup qualifier on Sunday looking to end a run of four matches.
