Man Utd news: Jose Mourinho not happy with Belgium over Romelu Lukaku

JOSE MOURINHO is far from impressed that Romelu Lukaku is set to be involved in Belgium’s match against Cyprus later today.

Belgium have already qualified for next year’s World Cup in Russia, meaning tonight’s qualifier against Cyprus is a dead-rubber.

But after sitting out for the win over Bosnia at the weekend, Roberto Martinez is set to include the striker in the squad this evening.

He returned to training in Brussels and Martinez said that Lukaku is ‘100 per cent fit’.

But the Belgium boss risks angering Jose Mourinho if Lukaku features in the meaningless qualifier.

According to the Daily Mail, Mourinho is concerned that his star forward could suffer a recurrence of the ankle injury he picked up last week.

The United boss will want Lukaku fit and ready for this weekend’s crucial clash away at Liverpool having had Marouane Fellaini ruled out of the match.

Lukaku has been a huge hit at Old Trafford since his summer move from Everton having scored 10 goals in his opening nine games in all competitions.

However, the 24-year-old has often been criticised for not performing against the big sides with 21 of his 25 Premier League goals coming against the bottom 13 teams in the top flight.

And he was never on the winning side against Liverpool during his four years at Everton, scoring three times in eight Merseyside derbies.

Phil Jones is also a doubt for the game against Liverpool, while Paul Pogba, Michael Carrick and Marcos Rojo have been ruled out.
