Liverpool vs Man Utd: The three reasons why Jurgen Klopp’s side can win - Don Hutchison

LIVERPOOL must have a fast start and exploit Manchester United on the flanks to have a chance of winning on Saturday.

Expert reveals how Man Utd can beat Liverpool in Premier League

That is the view of ESPN pundit and former Liverpool midfielder Don Hutchison.

The Reds host Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United at Anfield (12.30pm) and Hutchison has outlined three reasons why they can beat their fierce rivals.

“The most important thing for Liverpool at home against Manchester United is a fast start,” he said.

“Come out the traps, come out the blocks as quick as you can. Put Manchester United under pressure, stop them from playing out of the back.

“Liverpool get the ball forward into wider areas, crosses into the box. Give the crowd something to go off in the first 15-20 minutes of the game.”

Sadio Mane will miss the game with a hamstring injury he picked up on international duty with Senegal.

Before the news was announced he was missing, Hutchison says he would have been key along with Mohamed Salah.

“Wide areas are going to be critical for Liverpool,” he added.

“Salah down the right-hand side, Mane down the left-hand side. Pen in Manchester United’s full-backs as deep as you can.

“The further they come up the pitch, they’re going to be a threat. With the pace of Mane to get in behind (Antonio) Valencia, he could be one to look out for.

“The same with Mo Salah down the right-hand side. He doesn’t go on the outside, on his weaker right foot.

“Watch out for him cutting inside onto his strong left foot and getting his shots away at target.”

The ex-Scotland international ended his reasoning by saying Liverpool must be strong defensively to keep out the Red Devils.

“Keep a clean sheet,” Hutchison said.

“Don’t give any goals away, don’t even give any half chances away.

“Manchester United will smell if Liverpool are vulnerable at the back as they have been all season. So it’s imperative you keep a clean sheet.”
