Star winger Gareth Bale had already been ruled out from playing against his former side with a calf injury.

Full-back Dani Carvajal will also be missing with a heart condition while  Mateo Kovacic is sidelined with a thigh problem.

But during the international break, Zinedine Zidane received news of another blow to his squad.

Goalkeeper Keylor Navas limped off against Honduras while on international duty with Costa Rica.

The 30-year-old missed the dramatic ‘ghost goal’ game against Panama, and was set to miss this weekend’s La Liga tie with Getafe, according to Spanish publication Marca.

Madrid now look likely to face Spurs without their number one goalkeeper, which will be music to the ears of in-form hit-man Harry Kane.

The England international, who returned to his club this week after almost single-handedly booking England’s place in next year’s World Cup, has been in fine form, scoring 15 goals in his last 10 games for club and country.

Madrid’s back up goalkeeper, Kiko Casilla, who has only played one match so far this season, is expected to play between the sticks.

Tottenham and Real Madrid are tied at the top of Group H after two matches.

Both sides have won both of their opening matches and have six points with a positive five goal difference.

The results are especially impressive given Borussia Dortmund are also in the group but the Germans pointless.
