Kenny Dalglish thinks Dominic Solanke could become a Liverpool goal machine

But it’s not Mohamed Salah or Roberto Firmino - despite the pair costing more than £60million between them.

Instead Kop legend Dalglish has highlighted Dominic Solanke, a 20-year-old summer signing from Chelsea, as the man who could become a future hitman.

That’s despite Solanke not having scored for the club since arriving at Anfield.

Dalglish said: “They have signed the young lad Solanke up front who’s only 20.

“He might be a good goalscorer for Liverpool in the years to come.”

Although Daglish hasn’t forgotten Salah altogether.

He added: “Mo Salah has been the most exciting signing of the summer for Liverpool. He’s come in after a fantastic season last year with Roma.

“Obviously some people over here had already seen him play whilst he was at Chelsea but he’s come in and scored a good few goals and has looked really threatening, he’s really quick.

“He takes it up to people and they start to panic.

“He can go inside or out but he obviously prefers it on his left foot.”

Liverpool take on Manchester United on Saturday in the early kick-off at Anfield.

Jurgen Klopp's plans for the pending visit of arch-rivals Manchester United have been thrown into turmoil after Sadio Mane was ruled out for up to six weeks.

The Senegal international sustained a hamstring injury against Cape Verde on Saturday and, after being assessed by the club's medical staff on his return to Merseyside, a scan has confirmed their worst fears.

Mane, who was named on the Ballon d'Or shortlist on Monday, is likely to miss nine matches in all competitions, among those games against United, Tottenham and Chelsea plus three Champions League fixtures, two against Slovenian side Maribor plus the trip to Sevilla,

"The winger was substituted 89 minutes into Senegal's 2-0 World Cup qualifying win over the Cape Verde Islands on Saturday," said a Liverpool statement.

"And it has now been confirmed that he picked up an injury during that fixture that could keep him out of action for up to six weeks."
