Why Liverpool will beat Manchester United and keep clean sheet - Phil Thompson

PHIL THOMPSON has confidently predicted Liverpool will beat Manchester United and keep a clean sheet.

Hutchison: How Liverpool can beat Man Utd in Premier League

Liverpool host Manchester United on Saturday as the Premier League returns after an international break.

The Reds go into the game with just one win in their last seven matches in all competitions and without Sadio Mane, who was ruled out earlier this week with a hamstring injury.

Critics have slammed Liverpool over their defensive woes, with just two clean sheets their first seven league games.

And they face the daunting task of stopping the in-form Romelu Lukaku, who has scored 11 goals for United since his arrival in the summer.

Since Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp arrived at Anfield, they top the table in matches between the top-six.

But despite the odds seemingly being in favour of United on this occasion, Thompson is confident Liverpool’s tendency to deliver in big games will get them the win.

"I'm very confident - it's what we [Liverpool] do," he told Sky Sports.
