And it seems Mourinho is enlisting the help of his predecessor, Louis van Gaal, to ensure his side pick up all three points.

The Dutchman enjoyed a terrific record against Liverpool, winning three games against the Reds during his two-year reign.

And he has now made a surprising appearance at Anfield today.

The two enjoyed a close relationship during their younger years.

Mourinho and Van Gaal worked together at Barcelona, with both since going on to establish themselves as two of the best managers in world football. 

But will the Dutchman's words earlier this month be discussed after the game?

Van Gaal appeared to claim that money was the reason why he had been replaced by Mourinho in May last year.

“And don't underestimate what that means for United. Nothing as important as the figures for United.
