The Dutchman caught up with his successor, Jose Mourinho, ahead of the game and the pair shared an embrace.

Van Gaal is working on the big clash for a Dutch TV station but has enjoyed his brief spell back in England.

He was spotted visiting his old favourite restaurant, Wings, in Manchester last night and was in high spirits ahead of the game.
