Liverpool vs Man Utd: Jose Mourinho only wanted a point today, says Souness
That is the view of Sky Sports pundit and former Liverpool midfielder Graeme Souness.
Mourinho has now led Manchester United in two Premier League games at Anfield, with both ending 0-0.
Souness says the visitors perfected their manager’s game-plan.
“It wasn’t great. I think we got what we feared we were going to get,” Souness said of the match.

“The onus was on Liverpool to come and win the game.
“They’re at home, they’re seven points behind.
“Manchester United, sitting top of the league, if they don’t get beat today then that’s a good result.
“Man United turned up with a game-plan, we heard Jose before the game when asked about possession and he said ‘that’s not important, that’s for the mathematicians’.

“He sacrifices that, he sets his team up not to get beat and they did it.
“You’re thinking of Matip’s effort, Can’s half-effort.
“Other than that, for all their possession, Liverpool did not work De Gea.
“Man United leave here the happier team.”
